Not Ready?

Often, you’re in the best position to know when your parents are ready to make the move to a senior living community. You see the signs. Maybe Mom is feeling lonely, or Dad has become more forgetful. Meals are more of a problem. Home maintenance is becoming too much of a burden. Worry about safety increases.

There are many signs, and they usually become more pronounced over time. Eventually, single, isolated problems are multiplied, making living conditions more complex and worrisome.

Often, it’s a direct, heart-to-heart talk with a parent to point out your concerns and discuss possible solutions openly. As with everything else you do, this is a conversation grounded in love and sensitivity and a genuine concern for your parent’s wellbeing.

You should know that this is a common scenario, one that every child with an aging parent faces at one time or another. You’re not alone, and the staff at Butterfield Trail Village is here to help you every step of the way.

The Right Choice?

The first thing we recommend is that you visit our community and talk to our residents. This will give you tremendous insight into Butterfield as a vibrant senior living community and will help create a high level of confidence that Butterfield Trail Village is indeed the right place for your parents.

Butterfield Trail Village, a non-profit organization founded in 1981 by five local churches, has been dedicated since its inception to provide a fulfilling and enriching life for active seniors.

Butterfield offers a great quality of life with numerous opportunities for recreation, life-long learning, healthcare, entertainment, spiritual and physical wellbeing and travel. Scheduled transportation is available and the Butterfield bus takes residents to sporting event, performances at the Walton Arts Center, day excursions, as well, as shopping trips. The calendar is full of activities from which your parent can choose – they can do as much or as little as they wish.

Butterfield Trail Village is a LifeCare Retirement Community. LifeCare means a resident can enjoy freedom and an independent lifestyle for as long as they are able.

If they find they are in need of long or short termed skilled nursing, Butterfield’s Health Care Center, continually one of the highest rated skilled nursing facilities, is located on site and only available to residents. For many people this was the deciding factor in moving to the Village. The comfort and convenience of being close-by is immeasurable. If a spouse enters the Health Care Center the other remains in their home.

Our compassionate staff works with residents, their families and physicians to determine the appropriate level of care needed always keeping you apprised of any changes in condition or needs.

Safety and security?

Butterfield Trail Village provides a 24-hour security staff and emergency call and response systems. Our residences also include fire and smoke detectors and a central security system with handy call buttons to ensure the wellbeing of every resident.

Preserving their finances?

For those of retirement age, preservation of available finances is of utmost importance now more than ever. Residents have a right to expect that the senior living community they choose as their home is governed and operated in a manner that allows it to remain financially sound and meet its long-term commitments to residents.

A Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) should always be willing to provide adequate financial information and explanations to allow prospective residents to understand the financial condition of the organization. Examples of such information include audited financial statements, information regarding accreditation, amount of debt, and information about reserves and financial forecasts for future years.

At Butterfield Trail Village, we adhere to established industry standards for full financial disclosure concerning our operations. These Best Practices are established by the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging and the American Seniors Housing Association.

Across the United States, residents, prospective residents and industry experts overwhelmingly agree that a continuing care retirement community such as Butterfield Trail Village provides the greatest financial security, value and peace of mind for residents and their families.

What Do I Do?

Not much more than share your time with them. Butterfield Trail Village is a full-service, continuing care retirement community for active seniors. Our personable staff is ready and able to see that your loved one has opportunities that encourage physical wellness, learning and spiritual enrichment, as well as, just plain fun plus freedom to enjoy life the way they want.
