Enjoy a fall afternoon at the Illinois River Watershed Sanctuary and nature preserve in nearby Cave Springs. Have a picnic lunch at the sanctuary’s North Shore Pavilion, then take a short walking tour led by staff from the Illinois River Watershed Partnership (IRWP). The sanctuary is home to Cave Springs Lake, rare and protected plant and animal species, caves, waterfalls, and 30 acres of urban forest at the watershed’s headwaters.
