With Dr. Scott Lafontaine, Assistant Professor of Food Chemistry (Part I)

The BTV Programs and Events Department is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences. Its mission is to improve Arkansans’ quality of life by preparing students for successful careers, conducting impactful research – and sharing knowledge to promote viable food and agricultural systems, sustainable environments, healthy families and vibrant communities. The U of A’s Certificate of Proficiency in Brewing supports Arkansas’ growing beer brewing and wine industry, and the college has added a licensed and bonded nano-brewery for a “grain to glass” hands-on experience in beer production and quality control. Scott Lafontaine, assistant professor of food chemistry, and Renee Threlfall, research scientist in enology and viticulture, with the Division of Agriculture and Bumpers College, are co-directors of the brewing certificate program. Part I, presented by Dr. Lafontaine, details the craft beer process. On February 26, Part II will be presented by Dr. Threlfall, who will detail the field-to-table wine process.
